Receiving 28.2 and 19 deg E on same dish?

Currently have standard mesh Sky dish (60 cm I reckon) pointed towards 28.2 and picking up the full range of Freesat stations.

Have also been studying German a while but reached a bit of a plateau. Would like to get German TV (@ 19 degrees E) to help remain motivated.

Is it feasible to pick up both on the one satellite dish with the aid of a second LNB? I know already that this will involve another coax cable and another receiver.

Should also add that I am living in Cork.

Absolutely. I have 13, 19.2, 23.5 and 28.2 on a 90cm dish and have no problems with it.

Sound good. Is it a specialist job to set up? Any rough idea of the cost?

    Thanks lertsnim.

the answer is yes but you need to be handy as you will need a special adaptor for lnb.

have a look at this pic, lnb in center is 28east.

    enjoy

And a 60 cm dish should be OK as well?

Just FYI, you don't need another coax cable and receiver. You can get a diseqc switch and then use the same receiver and coax cable (well a little bit more to connected the lnb to the switch, which can be mounted outdoors). Provided your receiver supports diseqc.

You could always use a 90cm dish and a motor , I set mine up a few weeks ago it was very straightforward.

I am using a Sky Box for the Freesat channels on 28 E. I'd doubt that it supports DISEQC

You won't pick up anything other that 28.2E with a Sky box.
You would need to get a different receiver.

Cool. I thought so. Sky boxes are pretty proprietary. Figured that out long ago! ;)

You could still pick up a box or the job for about €50

It's not great to be honest. You wouldn't have much of a rain margin with a 60 cm dish on multi lnb setups anyway, but on top of that sky uses oval shaped dishes which make matters worse.

Sky Mesh Dish (when I had one). 28E, 19E, 13E

To add just 19E to the existing Sky dish, on the cheap, you need.

    A Diseqc switch €5.25
    An LNB Holder €9
    An LNB €4.75

    Combine the postage.
They are all from the one supplier. You will also need about 2ft of cable and a 4 f connectors which I am sure that Irish ebayer might throw in!

You will pick up a cheap HD Satellite box on ebay/adverts.ie

Could a Monoblock LNB [ http://www.maplin.co.uk/monobloc-astra-hotbird-satellite-lnb-47177 ] be used with a normal sky dish to receive 28.2, 19, 13 deg satellites?.. seen them in Maplins walking around the last day, never seen it before.

Those monoblocs are usually for a 6 degree separation (19 & 13 east) on an 80cm dish.

Google 'adjustable monobloc' or similar. I think there are some which adjust from 4 to 12 degree spacing (range would depend on dish size). Only Sky lnbs have the right shape feed for a Sky dish.

Thanks for all the feedback guys! Am much better informed about things now.

One more thing, is it worth paying that bit extra for a HD receiver for the 19.2 E channels? My research indicates that German HD channels are subscription only.

There are a few HD channels broadcast without encryption http://en.kingofsat.net/freqs.php?&pos=19.2E&standard=All&hdtv=1&ordre=freq&filtre=Clear

ARD and ZDF HD channels are FTA. There is no point in going non HD when buying a receiver imo.

I've thought some more about things.

Right now have Freesat coming through a 60 cm dish on 28 degree's east. Being received through a Sky multiroom box just fine. Can only take one LBN-in.

Thinking that I could set up an 80 cm dish for the purpose of just getting German 19 degrees east channels and using a Ferguson Arive 250 box to pick them up.

There is a free LNB output on dish that is pointed towards 28 degrees. Would it be possible to use a Diseqc to combine the feed from 19 E dish and 28 E dish into one cable running into the back of the Ferguson Ariva, as well as an arial cable for Saorview for a system capable of recording from 3 different broadcast system?

I intend to keep the Sky multiroom box alongside the ariva as the EPG would be much better, i.e letting me easily see whats on later, tomorrow etc and using this as reference to set up recording times on the Ariva, as well as letting me watch one Freesat channel on the Sky mutliroom and record another German or English channel at the same time on the Ariva?

Hope that the question wasn't phrased too awkwardly!

Yes, that will work. You'll need a diplexer at each end to combine and then split the aerial signal with the sat signal. You can get Diseqc switches with a diplexer built in, then you'd just need a €2 splitter where the cable comes in.

    Great. Thanks for the tip!

I know that this a bit off topic, but all of a sudden I can't see Channel 5 HD on my white freesat card, bought a week or two ago on eBay. Same for Liverpool TV.

Error message about making sure card is correctly inserted. Well all the other UK freesats are coming in. UK EPG too.
