The Kingdom Alliance Sportive (TKAS) is organised by Tralee Cycling Club in conjunction with Tralee Chamber Alliance and associated sponsors under the regulations of Cycling Ireland. The Kingdom Alliance Sportive will be divided into three stages, held over three days, and each stage will start and finish in Tralee. Scheduled to take place on the June Bank Holiday weekend on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of June, The Kingdom Alliance Sportive will take riders around North and East Kerry in Stage 1, through the McGillicuddy Reeks on the ‘Queen Stage’ on Sunday, and the Dingle Peninsula on Stage 3. The total distance covered will be 300 miles, and the event will be run as a ‘Sportive’.

A ‘cyclosportive’ to give the event its proper name, will ensure that both leisure and competitive cyclists are catered for. Each participant will receive a ‘timing chip’, which will record every individuals start and finish times for each stage. Lead cars will take the ‘Racers’ out ahead of the casual cyclists, and help avoid many of the inevitable results of participants of varying abilities taking part in the same event, as happens in many leisure and ‘charity’ cycles. This will also reduce the amount of overtaking required by cyclists, and thus make the roads safer for other road users.

Leisure cyclists can enjoy the challenge of the distance to be travelled, while the competitive cyclists can strive to cover the course in as quickly as possible. Each stage will also have a long (c100 miles) and a short (c50 miles) route, so most cyclists should be able to complete a distance which suits their fitness level. Riders must be pre-registered for the event to take part. Details of how to register can be found on the event website www.tkas.ie Queries to contact@tkas.ie
