So, if you're already in bed but can't sleep, would you go to the bother of getting out of bed and getting dressed?

Yeah, whiskey has never been my tipple of choice, but can see how that combination might be effective!

Yeah, think I may have flashed my neighbours earlier, but that didn't work as a sleep aid!

    I read.

Or, and maybe this is weird, I make lists of things I need to do because generally it's when I can't sleep that I'm thinking about things I need to get done and writing them down makes me feel more organised.

Sounds like you might be dying. I'd get that checked out.

I have bouts of insomnia every now and again, usually after X-mas and in the Summer when my sleeping pattern gets fecked up by sleeping in or staying out late when I'm off for a week or two. The only trick I have is if it is at the stage where you can't sleep and its 5 or 6 in the morning, just stay awake and go to bed around ten in the night the next day. Hard to do if you have to head into work so you might need to get a lift in and explain the situation at work.

If I can't sleep I normally stay awake until I go asleep.

Read or listen to the radio (usually USA or Australia stations) - like now.
(I recommend "Radiosure" app with its skins)
