Found a local supplier but he was outta the lifeline buckets, I took three Crystalyx high energy buckets instead. Anyone use these? how do you rate them? I paid 43 euro for the 40kg buckets, how does that compare?

The ewes jumped on em like sweeties this morn although in fairness last night was harsh.

Paid 26euro for 22kg like razor above.

Only got em for the first time a few weeks ago.

They seem to be a bit harder than the lifeline or other mineral buckets, so they last a bit longer.

I think they're good, they seem to hold the condition on sheep better, but like I say - I haven't had much trial of them yet. So its hard to know...

Lifeline is only a mineral bucket, Crystalyx is a mineral bucket plus a feed bucket which allows you to replace it instead of concentrates for a few weeks anyway. i have used Nutribio feed buckets this year and found them great and only cost €15 for a 18kg bucket but they went through them like chocolate.

The lad I bought from quoted me 25 euro for the 22.5kg buckets and buy 10 get 1 free. You dont even have to buy them all in the one go just keep the dockets and show them on the tenth purchase.... fairly sound I thought. He said the buckets sell themselves and cant keep them in the yard!!

I'll keep a close eye on the ewes and hold off on the concentrates for the moment, they due to lamb first week of april. It will be interesting to see how long the buckets will last, twas like a saturday night in front of a chipvan there today!!

I used the lifeline buckets 2 years ago and a bucket lasted 6-7 days between around 50 ewes last year used them and were gone in 2 days easy with the price of them this year I don't think they are worth it

after trying a few years i reckon it's cheaper to give them a few nuts than the buckets before lambing and they probably get more out of it...buckets tend to last very little pre-lambing and they are dear..they have their place and they are handy and all that but nuts are better value for money i think..
