I'm thinking of switching from a Tiagra 12-25 to ultegra 11-28, just wondering if this might cause any issues with regards chain skipping, shifting gears etc.
    Thanks in advance.

Nope. I presume you mean changing cassette. You'll probably need to change the chain also and stay with the same number of sprockets on the cassette.

yep it'll still be 10 sprockets and from looking around online my main concern is the chain wouldn't struggle when climbing the steep stuff and using the 28 sprocket, the last thing you need is slippage or chain issues when i'm crawling along. The mechanic i spoke to did mention a triple chain ring to go with the 11-28 but that's a no go.

I have a 9 speed tripple tiagra and I'd be willing to swap if you really wanted to :)

If you've currently got 10 speed tiagra (as opposed to the old version which is 9 speed) then there's no problem putting an ultegra cassette on there but you may need a new chain as the old one mightn't be long enough to accommodate the larger sprocket.
