I was in Currys today enquiring about a Freesat HDR box and I was told that freeview is the way to go using my existing dish. Can anyone confirm if this is what I should go for please?

I assume they said free-to-air instead of freeview.

Freeview, is the only really available in the UK and is received with an aerial (like Saorview).

Free-to-air comes in over satellite and is pretty much the same as freesat except you don't get a 7 day EPG, just now and next.

Thank you. No he showed me a humax freeview HDR on Currys website and said this was what was needed now. He said with the changes that have been made that I wouldn't be able to get BBC ITV etc on Freesat and that with digital now I would need a Freeview Box.

If you are not close enough to the UK/NI to gte an overspill signal then Freeview definitely is not for you.

Freesat is probably what you are looking for, if you have a sat dish. Only thing is, official outlets like Currys will probably not be allowed to sell Freesat branded boxes in Ireland, as its a UK only service.

But if it is a free to air satellite service you are looking for, I would recommend you buy a Freesat branded box instead of a cheapo FTA box. The EPG guide, recording facilities of a Freesat+ box is worth it.

Thank you. I was looking at the Humax Freesat HDR Box which Currys/PC world did have but are sold out. I was checking to see when the new Humax Box was coming in and this was when I was given the info above.
