Just installed a programmer 31031 as a replacement for my daughter.
    http://download.hager.com/controls.hager.com/files_download/Notices%20PDF/9419_520_04_GB.pdf
L+N in and same out to the boiler.
Put the unit on constant, it comes on.
Put the unit on timed (with no times set) and it also comes on
Put the unit to 'off' and goes off.

At this stage, I put the old unit back in.

Is there something obvious I'm doing wrong?

    Thanks.

    maybe a preset programme running.
set up a timed programme yourself and see what happens

But when I put it to timed, the boiler comes on straight away, even though it shouldn't.

Sorry, didn't look at the link (mechanical timer) have you got all the 'tappets' around the clock pushed in or out?
also try the 'advance' setting button

Did you 'set up' the programmable timer on it? (if it has a preset program, that may be calling for heat)

Ive attached a pic of the programmer, its not digital, so you can only program the timer by manually 'clicking' the individual 10min timer segments.
I have it set that it shouldn't signal the boiler, but as soon as i switch to timed, I hear the boiler coming on as thought its in constant.

    Thanks,

    They are all in (off).
I'll try the advance button when I get back up to her.

    Cheers
