    Hi,
I am looking at going o Roaccuatne fo cystic acne. Was put back on Dianette and also put on Tetralysyl anti-b's. I am 3 months on dianette and 2 months into my 3 month course of anti-b's. Although there was a slight impovement in my skin thee are still very noticeable cystic spots on my ceeks and my neck ad jaw line is bad. Im very worried about scaing, have a prob with blackheads also.

My main concern with Roaccutance however is the muscle pai :( I am quite active, do lot of cycling, running, hose iding and generally very outdoosy and have been told that I would pertty uch be confined to walking when on Roaccutane due to fatigue and the severe muscle pains. Has anyone else experienced this?

Also, as regards teh dry skin, how bad is it. As in I would try not o wear that much make up but when i do the last thing is to have make up peeling off my face from the dry skin? Dont want to be like something from the untouchables for the 6 months i may be on it :(

Probably should start a new thread for this rather than digging up an old one.

Anyway, I had muscle pain and fatigue for about two weeks after I started until my body got used to it and then it settled down again. Not everybody gets it. And outside of the dry skin, I had no other side effects. Just talk to your doctor/dermatologist about it.

    Hi,

My OH has been on Roaccuntane for about 5 weeks now. He is extremely sporty - running (training for a marathon), football, boxing and has just taken up horse riding. He has experienced no pain or muscle fatigue.

The only side effect he has experienced is dry skin and lips which he manages well with moisturiser and lip balm.

    Hi
I had the same issues about 6 months ago - I went back on Dianette first, after 3 months there was no improvement so the docs gave me Tytralisal and recommended Roaccutane.
It took a month for the Dermatologist appointment and by that time Dianette kicked in and it started to clear so I didnt bother going.
I read/heard some pretty horrific things about it.
My friend's bf was on it and she said he got very agressive and also he has chronic dryness in his nose - like he gets regular nose bleeds even though he's been off it for 2 years. So if you can, try every other avenue first.
Plus you need regular dermo visits at 200 a pop

I was on it for 9 months it's not that bad actually. I did get some joint pain towards the end but this goes completely when you are finished the course. Your skin will get dry but it's manageable. Up your nose and your lips get very dry but Vaseline sorts this out. Here is a good thread to read http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055767209

Keep up with the antibiotics. I was on the same ones and they only kicked in in the 3rd month!
