    Hey there,

    Im trying to source a gluten and dairy free cake for a friends party...any ideas on somewhere in South Dublin or even.....one that I could do myself?

    I'd really like to get something that looks like a "real" cake, and not just some banana bread type of thing...want her to have a "normal" dessert for a change!

    Thanks!

    For gluten free, meringue is your safest bet. If you are going to bake an actual cake yourself I recommend you bake one as a practice piece first, then taste it and decide whether it would work or not. A lot of GF cakes don't taste as nice as ordinary ones. Also GF cakes go stale very quickly.

    Does your friend eat eggs? If they do my sister makes this cake its yum;

    I make gluten free cakes all the time- just with gluten free flour and baking soda- and they're delicious! No one ever notices the difference. For dairy free, just use a butter sub, and lacto free milk if the recipe requires.

    If you're buying a cake, check out http://coeliacpages.ie/antoinettes-bakery/. The place gets good reviews..
