Son lost his only key to his 2001 colt, whats the best thing to do? Call a locksmith and hope he can make a key on the spot or try break into car and start it with something and drive home And get a key made ourselves?

You won't be able to Hotwire it anyway. Call a locksmith that can code a new key.
