    Hi,

I am looking to get internal insulation in my house. I have been advised that anything below 80mm is a waste of time. I would prefer to use 50mm to minimise loss of space. Has anyone had any positive or negative experience of using 50mm internal insulation?

    Would appreciate any info!

It's a hollow block build - 2 sets of hollow blocks with a cavity in between.

I live in a 1945 mid-terraced house where the walls are 215mm poured concrete. We put 50mm insulation on our walls about 4 years ago and our house has been quicker to warm up, stays warmer for longer and cost no where near as much money to heat as our friends and neighbours. We also put heating controls on all radiators, and divided our heating system for upstairs and downstairs at this time and this would also have added to cost saving. But I found it a great difference. Hope that helps!

Great thanks so much for sharing your experience! Good to know.

Bryan - thanks I've looked at that article before. It all gets a bit too technical and involved for me though...
