Dogs! The smaller ones are the ones to watch out for, the bigger ones have more sense.

You'll get more confidence riding in traffic fairly quickly.

Pedestrians stepping out in front of you.
Cars pulling out in front of you.
    (both underestimate your speed)
    Cars passing you too close.
    Parked car doors opening.
Wet road markings and manhole covers. Lethal.
Being in a vehicles blind spot.
Poor road surface at the edge of a road.
On windy days, crosswinds as you pass gateways etc.
Swerving as you look behind you.

    Light yourself up, wear hiviz.
Expect other road users to do something stupid, ride defensively.

Don't get distracted by other cyclists waving at you - focus on the job in hand ...;)

On your commute you may meet another cyclist who does the same trip every morning

Though you will never speak, sparks will fly and you will race each other as if your life depended on it!

A subtle nod will suffice for communication

If you pm me some form of postal address I'll send on a "Cycling Skills for Adults" leaflet. It deals with most urban traffic situations.

Junctions with yellow boxes. Especially where you have right of way but traffic is built up and cars cross the junction but have no way of seeing you.

watch out for exactly the same stuff you would be if walking or driving.. that's about the extent of it, it's not really that different to anything else on the roads.

Ill fitting cycling shorts can be a horror to deal with as well, choose carefully. Also, always stick with black.
