Airlock I can't figure out

    Hi everyone.
I have a fairly simple setup in my apartment. But I cannot figure out this airlock.

I have a mixer tap in the kitchen and in the bathroom. And a pump in between them next to the tank and hot water cylinder. The mains in the kitchen is working. The hot is hot. In the bathroom the cold(via the pump) is working. Again the hot is not.

I've tried the usual blocking the spout and turning from cold to hot to try clear the airlock. I don't think that's it though.

When I leave the hot in the kitchen open, and I go to the bathroom and block the spout, the water comes out of the kitchen tap. And visa versa. So there is no airlock between these? Would that be correct?

The pump is located between these. There is an expansion air release which I did but it didn't help.

The bottom left of the pump where the hot input is is warm to touch though the hot pipe I s cold as the Emirsion is not on.

ANY help or tips would be much appreciated.
    Thanks guys.

OK the pump is heating because it is struggling to draw water stop trying to draw water with he pump on for the moment it is running dry this will do more harm than good.Next did you release air from the pressure vessel?if you did do, this it will need to be re-pressurized.Did you turn off any valves on the pipework leading into or away from the Cylinder?

Yes. That's the little one that looks like a type valve ya? On top of the pump. Yes I did. Just a tiny bit of air came out though.

That is NOT for purging air from the pump that is only there so that the pressure vessel can be re charged that will have to be re pressurized back up to operating pressure

Ok I'll turn off the pump for the moment. I released the air yes. I didn't turn off the values coming into or out of the pump. Just the hot water supply and the cold supply with the red taps leading from the cylinder into the pump. But not the 4 attached to the pump. Pic attached.

    Thanks a MILLION!

It might sound stupid did you open the valves fully? Those valves are made out of crap and sometimes when the are closed they get stuck and wont reopen

Ok. Figured it out. Thanks do everyone four your help.

The red valve tap coming out of the cylinder into the pump has a twist kink on it. So when opening it it appears to be open when in fact is only about 40% open. Once I discovered this I just forced through it and working grand now.

    Thanks again for your replies.

So who closed it in the first place

    Yes yes. i did.
I closed it in the first place.

I hang my head in shame.

It did have a pretty big knot/kink in the thread, to give me credit....
    But ya, hang, my, head.....:o

    Thanks again.

On another note, my shower unit seems to be leaking slightly.
When the shower is on, underneath the tray it seems there are a few drips coming down. But they are behind the tiles dripping off the inside of the tiles onto the floor. The fact that they are behind the tiles suggests that it is the shower.
The tiles are brand new and new grout and silicone. Ive inspected these closely so thats why i reckon its the shower unit.....

Any ideas? A friend of mine reckons that if the shower unit plumbing was leaking, it would be constant. so he reckons it must be a faulty shower unit, no the shower plumbing.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks as always!

Try this (It may take a while)turn off all the taps make sure you that they are turned off tightly (ie. no drips getting by) Then listen for your pump kicking in.If it kicks in when everything is off then you most probably have a leak.Do you have a room beside the bathroom? If you do, check along the bottom of the wall and floor for evidence of damp this may also indicate a leak.IT may also be your shower door letting water by.To check this spray water along the edges from top to bottom and from side to side then see if water is pooling on the floor.

it may well only leak when shower on if leaking fittings are after mixer valve, therefore only filled when shower mixer turned on .what is on the other side of shower wall?is it in the landing/hall? is it a plasterboard wall? if so it might be best option to cut square out on plasterboard wall behind mixer and shower rose and inspect for water being careful to only cut plasterboard and not pipes.stanley blade may be best option if u comfortable using one
