Zarfira problem.. Need advice

Hi , we are planning to go down the country today with the kids but doesn't look likely now .. If anyone knows what wrong please let me know..
I went to start the zafira and when I turned the key once( usually just all the lights come up on the dash) the car started , before I actually turned the key to ignition!! The car revved higher than normal and the steering is extremely heavy , it's like if the car was switched off it's that heavy.

What on earth would cause this???

How is the belt is it slipping or broke

Check Power steering fluid,(May be low) and check belt on power steering pulley, (May be slipping or broke).

No not broken , I can still drive the car , I was wondering would it be auto electrics or something else. Why would the car start after one turn of the key and the steering be as stiff as hell when the car is actually running??
The high revs would be worrying though.
I wouldn't mind but the car was running perfect yesterday.

As far as I know, the Zafira power steering is mechanical.

Some cars have electric motors for power steering.

Over revving is a different problem and can be caused by a mechanical or electrical issue.

I had a lad look at it ,he would know his stuff in relation to cars and he told me that the starter motor is sticking when I turn the key one notch and its not releasing,either that or a problem with the ignition.....
As I can't drive it anywhere as no power steering can anyone know of a good auto electrican that could fix this on the side of the road as I think a tow truck can be costly, so I'm told. Dublin west area.

Don't drive it if motor is sticking. That's a fire waiting to happen.
