recommend a CD

    I am wondering would you know of a cd that contains popular hymes, I bough one recently but to be honest, there is a choir singing the hymes and even the hymns I know I cant follow.
    So if anyoine know of a good cd with hymes (upbeat a little I think is what I am trying to say)

    Take a look at James Kilbane's CDs. Well sung and he has a good variety of hymns

    There is a very good series of CDs recorded by Wells Cathedral Choir under the directorship of Malcolm Archer, which was released around 2004-2005 on the Hyperion label under the general title "The English Hymn". Between them, the five CDs cover over 100 of the best-known hymns in the Anglican tradition. They are clearly sung, and the CDs themselves come with extensive notes and full words.

    Another collection, which is at a bargain price on the Amazon.UK website, is the 2-CD set "Abide With Me", sung by a variety of choirs.

    Another bargain, particularly as a download, is the 6-CD set "100 Hymns", again by various choirs and performers. This is available from Amazon.UK as an MP3 download for £5.99 (sixpence a hymn!).

    You should be able to listen to samples of all of these before buying.
