Car outside thermometer - where is it?

As I was looking at my dash tonight and seen the outside temp, I got to thinking about where exactly on the car this would be located.

It has to be somewhere where it will give a steady reading of air temp when the car is moving. But, it surely can't be:

    - anywhere near the engine, as this would potentially affect the reading.

    - anywhere that an air flow can hit it, as again this would affect temp if it had a 60mph or 70mph air stream hitting it, so it must be hidden away somewhere on the car, but then again does that affect its ability to give a really accurate reading?

    So where is it?

Under a wing mirror in a lot of cases.

Depends on the car. Was told before it was usually the front bumper, rear bumper or a wing mirror

Behind the front bumper in most cases I can think of.

Bottom of the L/H mirror on my Picasso.
This was discussed before (somewhere, maybe not here) and apparently the wind-chill factor caused by the car moving does not affect the temp reading.

Here's the location of my model, embedded in the underside of the front bumper.
