1.9TDI T5 VW Transporters

    Hi Lads
    Does anybody have any experience in pulling car transporters with these ?Thinking off buying one for this purpose and looking for advice feedback on them.Im staying away from the 2.5 model as i have heard to many horror stories about the timing chain

    The 2.5 doesn't have a timing chain so whoever was telling you these "horror stories" didn't know what they were talking about ;)

    No it's gear driven. So no belt or chain to worry about.

    I'd imagine the 2.5 would be a better option if you are constantly pulling a trailer. We have a 2.5 120dci Renault master and it will pull 2.5 tonne easily enough.

    Do they give much trouble 1.9tdi or 2.5tdi in your experience wih them ?

    The 1.9 wouldn't pull you out of bed lad. Better of with a T4 2.5 101hp remapped if your on a budget.

    They give plenty of trouble just like all vans :pac:

    The 2.5 is definitely a better option for towing but they are very heavy on diesel.

    Drove a 1.9 for a short time and its seriously underpowered as a van wouldn't want to be towing with one
