    Hi Friends,
i am new to boards, apologies up front if making mistakes or wrong doing.

Looking for help and advice on replacing a Ideal classic boiler around 12 yrs old,
Got BG home team to service it, would advice to replace it soon early as possible , due to pump valve leaking on top and the body of the boiler is been rusty, he wouldn't service it, but took 100 euros from me !!!
Anyway, i was reading the threads and now i know Bosch one is a good one, rang around few guys , for a Bosch Greenstar A rated from 1350 to 2400 euros. Its a normal 3 bed semi detached house , with no pblms with heating at the moment, the radiators been cleaned out and working fine since last year.
Could i ask the experts, why is the price gap is so much what should i look for if i go for the cheap RGI.
    Thanks in advance
    Paul

so u booked a service with bg,he came out,did not service boiler and STILL charged 100 euros!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????the pump is seperate to the boiler and replacing pump valve is asimple/inexpensive job.The rust may be just surface rust from dripping water from pump valve.I would get a decent rgi to have a look at it and advise if new boiler is needed at all.
Also I would love to meet the chap who will install a wb boiler for 1350 euros.I presume this includes a powerflush, install, commission and certificate of compliance?

yes, that what happened , i got another RGI guy, he said, if the body of the boiler is rusty, their may be chance for CO2 leak, so they wouldn't touch it, told me its better to replace it.i had the trouble with the pump valve on the right hand side leaked few years ago, and its was changed and its been working fine so far.
    thanks for ur replay

should not be difficult for rgi to find source of rust,it may be cosmetic .he should also have a flue gas analyser which he can use to check for carbon monoxide presence.

@gdavis, thanks again,i don't hav a clue abt GAS ,i am in medical field. He did a co2 check with a meter, gave us some report, he said its fine at the moment, and he issued a certificate , i.e. notification of hazard , A NON CONFORMANCE , badly rusted , brackets rusted off ,pump valve leaking .....thats the problem. What should v do, is it safe to keep go with its, v hav two small kids, or better change it.cheers

The fella that quoted 1300 run a mile from I would have major doubts about. Get both to give a complete brake down of their quote to compare one to one.

With that much wrong, I would err on the side caution & replace it. It will be much better at heating & much more efficient & cheaper to run.
