I'm just going to add this to the topic...

The Rumble match is my favorite match of the year :P Always so, so excited for it.

What's your favorite Rumble moment of all time?

Mine is Austin sitting on the turnbuckle waiting for the next entrant who was The Hitman, then Austin waving him towards the ring :D

This one came to mind for me:

I think Taker's reaction makes it.

The one that springs to mind is Cena's return as the Number 30 entrant in the 2008 Rumble.

Had been missing for weeks, absolutely no one had a clue he was returning (despite the event being in the "smartest" venue in the world, MSG), the crowd reaction (YEAAAAAHBBBOOOOOOOO!), HHH selling it like a ghost had walked in, JR talking moments before how no one could stop HHH. Hell, I even remember the morning I was watching it. My brother sat down as HHH came out and started clearing house. He asks who I think #30 is, and I say "Doesn't matter, no one is going to beat Hunter". And then Cena's music hit....

    About 2:15 into this video...

But there's so many great moments. Maven eliminating Taker. Santino teasing he would win. Rey going coast to coast. Taker and HBK having their minimatch. Stone Cold vs Vince. Rock in the "One foot touched the ground" moment. Those are just some off the top of my head.

The Rumble, year in, year out, has me marking out so much. And at the moment, this years looks really good cause anyone could win. Some years, you've got a feeling but this year, I really don't know.

That is great I want to see the end (maybe later) but form that how important is JR to commentary he makes everything sound epic shame hes not there all the time

I was watching other videos after I made that post, and more specifically, I was watching the Maven/Taker moment. Got to say, agree 100%. JR's cries make the moment cause goosebumps....

HBK winning when one leg hit the floor in 95-96. Only got back into the WWE in the last 3-4 years after a long break.

    Rumble predictions are -

Cena - Surly a shoe in after his "crap" year last year. He'll become champ in 2013 possibly beating Rock at WM

    Rock to beat Punk

    Team hell no to win

Dare I say it but I loved Benoit's rumble win

Kane's rampage in 2001. Only Drew Carey in the ring, Kane comes out and toys with him until Raven comes out and makes the save. Few more people come out (Al Snow, Grandmaster Sexay, Steve Blackman, Perry Saturn). Kane eliminates them in less than two minutes, then The Honky Tonk Man comes out and tries to play a song

    Just brilliant

That was great, the way he eliminated Show felt so special at the time too.

2cool and Riskishi dancing at The Rumble always make me grin, especially as I was a massive 2cool mark back in the day. Crowd were sensational as well.

I adored Kane destroying everyone in 2001 and of course CM Punk in 2010 when he started preaching when eliminating people in his straight edge role was awesome.

I put a €5 bet on Cena winning that one. Huge odds cause he was injured so it was assumed he wouldn't be involved. Something stupid like 60/1. Even the jobbers had similar odds. Never been so happy to see Cena :D

    Favourite moments:

    Benoit winning in 04
Vince hilariously tearing his quad in 05
Taka Michinoku almost dying after being thrown out of the 00 Rumble.
Daniel Puder being battered by Bob Holly,Benoit and Guerrero.

Split from the main Rumble thread as i feel it deserves a thread of its own.

I was loving this, but the last 2 men standing in that Rumble should have been Benoit and Angle. No one believed Show was winning that Rumble given the push Benoit was on at the time. Whereas had it been Angle and Benoit, it could have been either as Kurt was permanently at the top of the card at the time. I actually felt the way Benoit won in the end was pretty stupid.

    Favourite moments

    - Ernest "The Cat" Millers extrance and subsequent elimination at RR2003 I still laugh at.

    - Daniel Puder having the ever loving snot beat out of him by Eddie, Benoit and Bob Holly.

    - Rick Martel hanging in there forever at Rumble 1991. I think he did the original "skin the cat" in that one. Tugboats heel turn also started in this Rumble.

    - Flairs win.

    - Austins elimination, and subequent victory in 1998(9?)

Heel Jerry Lawlor on Commentary - slides into the ring and is eliminated immediately by Bret Hart! Loved that - forget what year it was though!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,628 ✭✭✭Ando's Saggy Bottom

The entire 1992 Rumble especially Repo Man hiding outside like a pure schnake. Heenan's commentary also <3.

1997. Lawler was on a rant and his music hit and he said ''It takes a King....

*Slides in, gets eliminated with one punch by Bret Hart*

    .....to know a King''.

He didn't even break stride with his sentence, just resumed it when he put the head set back on!!!

I must say I enjoyed seeing Stone Cold Steve Austin win it in 1998, despite the fact that everyone knew that that would be the outcome. But it was just very exciting to see the trigger being pulled on him for the WWF title back then. It wasn't a matter of if, it was just a question of when would he be given it. I liked seeing Shawn Michaels get hurt that year too.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

You liked seeing Michaels get hurt? Really? Why?

The 1992 RR was the best from start to finish and one man carried the event.

    Bobby Heenan :)

    Same:

Shoehorning this in but Royal Rumble 1992 is a real fav but some absolute legend did this:

They seamlessly dubbed entrance music for each entrant into the Rumble.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,500 ✭✭✭✭DEFTLEFTHAND

Austin looking at his wrist tape like a watch while sitting on the turnbuckle as well. Super cool.

One of my favs was in 2001 when Kane smashed a guitar off the head of Honky Tonk Man. I loved seeing that jackass being humiliated, the guy has a massive ego and views himself as something he never was, they kept the IC strap on him for so long because they didn't know what to do with it.

The only thing missing from that was a chokeslam to Drew Carey.

Austin in the 97 Royal Rumble always holds a spot in my heart just because it was my first proper exposure to Austin as a kid, and straight away he became my new favourite wrestler.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,640 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

One of my other favourite moments - and there won't be a Youtube clip I'm sure - was during the 2001 Rumble when Kane and Taker started working together to eliminate the other participants. At one stage it was just them left and as the countdown ticked down it turned out to be Scotty 2 Hotty out next. Of course the two of them beat the hell out of him and eliminated him easily. Then the countdown ticked down again and everyone is wondering who the next guy to be destroyed will be. 3...2...1...and then the glass shatters. It was Austin! Suddenly everyone's thinking maybe the Brothers of Destruction won't have it so easy this time. I think Hunter then immediately jumped him which slightly ruined it but whoever choreographed that part of the Rumble deserves a pat on the back. Might have been Pat Patterson.

This, the pop was fantastic. That rumble had everything, Kane taking out nearly everyone, a hardcore segment, big show coming back to clear house, a completely bloodied stone cold vs the rock. Loved it.

    Dailymotion has it in full.

Ruined at the time by Channel 4 cutting to a break immediately after his music hit :D

I love this part of the '07 Rumble, brilliantly set up with Khali's dominance and the announcing:

One of my favorite moments is Foley coming back in the 2004 Rumble and eliminating Orton after Orton had spit in Foleys face a couple of weeks earlier.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,549 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

07 Rumble? Does not seem like Punk, Miz and Khali have been there for 6 years.

I always remember the first Rumble I saw was where The Warlord was eliminated in 2 seconds.

I also liked when they let Maven eliminate Taker in 2002 even if he did then proceed to beat him outside of the ring. It shocked me and I got a pop out of it.

I thought I posted already, but Punk and the SES doing the promos between the first few entrants, wish it went on heaps longer.

Although not my favorite moment, I was kinda excited to see the New Nexus and The Corre get it on a couple of years ago in the rumble match. They teased it but it fizzled out. Would've liked to see a conclusion to that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,110 ✭✭✭takamichinoku

Nexus just eliminating every that came in was pretty cool as well, Punk just standing in the middle beckoning the new entrant and all

All three Faces of Foley entering the 98 Rumble. Speaking of that, Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie starting off the Rumble is something I remember fondly too. Jack tossing chairs into the ring and Charlie deflecting them with his chainsaw was pretty funny.

The storyline between Jericho and Michaels for the 2003 Rumble. Jericho wants to prove he is better than Shawn and that leads to both of them becoming the first two entries. Jericho hatches a plan with Christian to eliminate HBK immediately and leave him in a bloody mess, then he goes on to be the Ironman of the Rumble until HBK comes back and gets revenge.

Whenever Jake cleared the ring when he brought out the snake.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,788 ✭✭✭✭krudler

Hogan and Warrior squaring off for the first time, a 9 year old me nearly lost his sh1t seeing this for the first time. The crowd reaction makes it.

Cena getting a MASSIVE pop, and not just from the kiddies during the 2005 one, remember when adults liked him?

Another cool moment was Snuka and Piper in the Garden back in 2008. The rest of the combatants just sat back and watched them go at it. They probably grew up watching these lads. Kinda awesome.

Even better was Mohammed Hassan in the 2005 Rumble. All the heels and faces aligned to destroy him. 'Murica, Fcuk Yeah.

Bret Hart returning despite injury in 1994 is still amazing.

Foley vs HHH in 2000 also.
