All Champion Chase chat goes here.

    I'll start:
    Sprinter Sacre wins, easily.

Can a Mod please close the thread now as no more discussion is needed :D

I can see myself getting involved each way in the day but until then I can't see anything touching Sprinter Sacre.

Pricewise tipped William's Wishes as an each way alternative to SS but the long shot I'd be interested in each way at a price in the region of 100/1 is Shooters Wood but he'd surely be more likely to run in the Grand Annual. I can see some of the potential each way horses looking to the Ryanair rather than the Champion Chase

I have not seen a 'betting without SS' market yet, but that's what i'd be looking at for a bit of an interest in the race.

If the ground is abysmal then I can see Flemenstar going here and making a race of it.

Otherwise betting without is the only possible angle.

We won't get to see the black aeroplane tomorrow, Ascot is off.

I don't think Flemenstar needs a bog to put it up to SS; good ground will suit him better than soft.
SS is a worthy favourite and if he turns up on the day will be very hard to beat but of all his prospective opponents, Flemenstar is definitely the most dangerous. Would love to see FS out in front, leading the CC field, jumping for fun and setting a strong pace. SS would probably pick him off up the hill but I still want to see him do it!

I'd love to see it too! I am guessing if the ground is good in any way connections will end up putting him in the Gold Cup, which is what I meant.

Although having said that, I think the ground was heavy when he won the Irish Arkle in fine style and he'd have no concerns about it, maybe SS would - did Henderson not say earlier in the year he was trying to avoid bad ground with him?

    Ascot Racecourse ‏@AscotInsider

Ascot and @BetVictor are delighted to confirm that the Victor Chandler Chase will be run at Cheltenham next Saturday.

    Nice!

Fingers crossed Cheltenham goes ahead now!

I'm hopefully flying to Birmingham next Friday

How likely is sanctuaire to run in this..? Would you bother putting him in this if you were Nicholls? The RP antepost guys were all over him as an ew @12';s ..it's 1.5's if you consider the ew..my worry would be they'd try play the tactic game again and could lose out on a place

Be doing well to get 8 runners I'd say.

So Geraghty will abandon the defending champ! Has that happened before? I haven't looked to much into it but I can't recall off hand

    Maybe he wont.

Geraghty to defect to Finian's who then lands a huge gamble as Sprinter Sacre gets a poor ride from replacement in the saddle Andrew Tinkler. Henderson is later banned for 25 years over the whole affair & goes on to star in a movie version of "Breaking Bad"

That's my story & I'm sticking to it!

Just watched Paddy Brennan's ATR interview on his big festival rides. He's absolutely gushing in his praise of Mail De Bievre. Impressive effort after long absence the last day when jumping well for a long spell against Silvinanco Conti before weakening. I assumed he'd go to Ryanair but Brennan seems mad for him to go to CC. We know Champion Chase will cut up and Ryanair is looking hotter by the day so I'm going to take a chance that they supplement him for CC. His speed and bold jumping would be enough to trouble the likes of Wishfull Thinking and Sanctuaire for 2nd.

Mail De Bievre e/w @ 10/1 in Without SS Market

That looks like an attractive bet without diving into the form books

Yeah good shout, he jumped like a stag last time out and it would be interesting to see him over 2 miles.

Looks an interesting bet - are you getting 3 places for your e/w? What bookie?

No just the 2 which disappointed me as I was sure it was 3 when I checked it awhile back.

Think they've confirmed they're going to supplement him. 5/1 in W/O SS Market now!

That horse looked impressive for a good bit the other day but I'd be kinda worried about the track. Has he ever run around a course like Cheltenham?

    Super looking animal though.
