Speeding fine from Garda on a bridge?

I was heading home on the M4 tonight, I was going over the limit and I came to a bridge where there were traffic corps parked on the bridge.

Can they give me a speeding fine from the bridge? Without pulling me over?

    Thanks

Yes, haven't you heard of the speed vans?

If the camera was on a tripod, its a laser unit with a camera connected to a computer in the squad car, if the Guard deemed you were speeding, then a speeding fine will be in the post.

Speed vans are not vehicles marked as T.C,

As above, if they had a tripod you may be done, if only handheld you have to be stopped there and then,

are you sure they even had anything pointed at you op?

They seem to have a fondness for just parking up on bridges and overpasses...

If they were on the overpass they will surely be speed checking, squad car on bridge over ballinasloe exit coming from dublin, using handheld, they will follow you, and pull you over, then they exit and park on the galway side exit for ballinasloe, and check from that bridge

How does the above differ from what I said?

Re; the bold bit, how do you know they weren't having a cup of tea? looking the other way? on the phone/radio? waiting for someone? using a handheld but not arsed go after the op?

They were not out of the car.

Can they use the speed gun from inside the car?

Wont a dash or rear view mounted camera do the same as well?

Is there any indication you were caught? Flashes or anything.
Otherwise pray and wait for a letter that might not come.

My point is that you can be done without the necessity for a cop on a bike to chase after you so it doesn't matter if it's a civilian speed van or TC vehicle.

You said they have a fondness for just parking on the bridge, I can guarentee you if they are at the spot I spoke of they are speed checking I see them all the time, I would say if the op was not followed then he could be ok

Your point has no relevance to the query of the OP though.
