About to start work in Ireland - what do I need to do?

Hi all, I arrived in Dublin recently and will be working part time for a small business. I have always been self employed in the past and my new boss hasn't had a contracted employee before - the previous assistant worked freelance and submitted invoices - but I have asked for a contract as I will be needing it to prove my status here. My wife will be joining me soon from the US and I'll need to submit a contract and payslips as supporting evidence for her residence card.

Please could someone more knowledgeable than me let me know what the next steps are for me - do I need to register myself somewhere to start making the equivalent on national insurance contributions, or anything else like that?

You will need to obtain a PPS number from the DSP. See link below. This number identifies you to most government departments.

You then need complete a Form 12A for Revenue to get your new employment on file and so your employer can tax you correctly.

Great, thanks - already have my PPSN, but didn't know about the 12A
