Any students here do BIS? Just want to get someone's feedback on the course. My interests include business, economics and computing so I think this course might be right for me? Or am I mistaken ? :)

What's the divide between coding and business ?

And if you have done the third year work experience could you please tell me about your experience :)

    Thanks!

Hey :) I'm a second year BIS student. To be honest it's a great course because it's so versatile. You do 50/50 split between business topics which are all 5 credits (Stats, management account, financial accounting, economics, psychology,market/management) and information systems which are 10 credits each (programming, systems analysis and design, technology) in first year :) Everything is taught from a beginners level, so most people are on the same page starting out.

    Hope this helps :)

Workload can be varied where you'd have nothing due for weeks and then 3/4 continuous assessment pieces or exams in a week. The lecturers do generally give you plenty of time to complete everything it's up to you to time manage it. :) You've about 12-14 hours of lectures a week and then about 8 hours of practicals and tutorials on top of that. It's not a bad timetable compared to some courses but it's a lot more than stuff like Arts. One piece of advice is go to your tutorials and practicals, they will be invaluable to you. :)
