Late night cafes in Cork City

Does anyone know anywhere good to go after the cinemas/Opera House close in Cork city/county for snacks and non alcoholic drinks (for those of us driving)? Looking for somewhere chilled out to take guests to have a bite, drink, and a chat until the small hours without crowds in pubs/takeaways. I'm probably thinking of something like cafes in France/Spain/Italy, which stay open very late. Dunno if there's anything like that in Cork.

Cant help you with Cork, but you do bring up the point of later-night activities. Sometimes I wish there were cafes open later, or late night cinema showings. There really is not enough to do post-10pm here.

    Cafe S'presso on MacCurtain Street.

There's Café Gusto and Indigo on Washington Street but they're not very late opening - 10 or 11 I think.

Some shows start around 9 o clock. There are three movies starting at 23.45 tomorrow night at the gate cinema in town in Cork.

Isn't it just a bar at night though? It is a great spot though, I agree.

I consider 9 too early in this case. Good to see, but is that an exception or normal?

Yeah, 24 hours. Great spot. Been in there a few times at 4am, both after drink and skipping out on drink entirely. Webworkhouse was one of the first internet cafes around here, they're the longest survivor and their computers are really good computers. And whenever you buy something you can ask for a receipt that gives you a code for half an hour of internet on your own laptop or tablet.

They don't have much in the way of food. They have prepackaged sandwiches but I'd imagine they'd be gone by late night, and they don't have much of a selection. They do soup at lunch. They do have cakes and pastries at night though. Their coffee is quite good and they've a big selection of teas. Nine times out of ten you get a free chocolate with your coffee (yes, you can pick the Ferarro Rocher.) The icing on the cake is they're really quite cheap, €2 for an Americano, €2.10 for a flat white and latte, €3 for a sandwich. I'd say it costs them nothing to run the place because the space was going to waste anyway and at night the web cafe staff double up for the cafe.

And I'm really conflicted in writing this post because I don't want loads of people showing up but it's also too good not to share.

Yes, the guy running it is a sound man. Very good value as well tbh.

Now tell the truth...you have shares in Webworkhouse?:pac:

Though I agree, I like the place a lot, but it's no Tribes.

I never liked Tribes. I think I got food in there once but their coffee was always awful.

Edit: And really the web workhouse bit was just showing off what we have down here in case any non-Corkonians wandered in. :P

I've seen it open at 11 loads of times. And their food is really good value.

The Gingerbread House was the best for coffee. And remember Bica and Polos on Washington Street? They were great. Gusto now is where Bica was.

That's gone for a good few months now. There is something like a kebab shop where it used to be. Shame.
