there is a pump at the front driven by the PTO. this creates a vacuum inside the tanker as it sucks air out. Nature hates a vacuum and will try and fill it. since the only opening is connected to the pipe in the slurry it sucks up the slurry to fill the empty space

    That and fairy dust :D

I'll never forget the day i learnt how a slurry spreader works. Was spreading away when the spout got blocked with a lump of silage, got out of the tractor without closing the valve at the back. Pulled the silage out and got covered from head to toe with slurry. It was a long walk back to the house.:o:o

Has happened everyone at some stage or another I think, Happened me 3 times but I had closed the valve each time. What I didnt realise was that the blockage had gone back past it stopping it from closing properly. On another note whats the strangest thing ye have found blocking the splashplate, it was a bone for me.

Sounds dangerous if your tank was near full, you unblocking the spout and near 2000 gallons of slurry coming at ya :eek::eek:

Most dangerous part of the experience is when you get back to the house and if your a young fellow the mother sees you coming or worse if your a bit older the wife see you making for the door!!!

Its back up the yard to the cold hose then for you....

Worst for me was a half decomposed cat!! He started breaking apart when I went to pull him out!! Absolutely horrible smell!! Another time had to push a hedgehog out of the the spout!! That was a bit tricky! :D
