TV technical issue

    Hi,

In the past few days my tv (a 1-year-old Sony) has in effect switched off by starting a loud 'hissing' sound, the sound precisely the same as when the tv channel used to go off at night years ago. It happened after 50 minutes today. I'm on UPC. I turned the tv on a moment ago and the hissing came back on. I turned it on a minute ago and it was gone.

Could somebody more technically minded have suggestions for solving this? Thanks.

Have you tried on different sources to see if the whistling remains? Try a DVD player or a games console or something. I've a similar problem with my 8 year old plasma and it's more than likely a problem with the solder going on 1 of the audio circuits or something, sorry..
