Would like to make contacts

    Hi all!

Name's Niamh. I'm a gay MTF trans woman in her late twenties. I'm writing this thread because I'd like to make some LGBT contacts in Ireland, mainly but not necessarily restricted to trans people. I currently live outside the country so can not just turn up at the local LGBT group or club. When I used to live in Ireland I wasn't comfortable enough to ever get involved and make contacts. Plus, things have changed a great deal even in the few short years since I was in college there.

I'm a full time doctoral student and a part-time teacher. I haven't begun my transition and am feeling kind of lonely with no-one to discuss issues with. My wife is greatly supportive but she's cis, has heard everything I have to say and obviously doesn't have anything to say on the matter that comes from experience. It would be nice just to make some contacts and feel connected to the community despite being abroad and not feel like I am the only trans person. I live in a really small place and so still after a few years have yet to meet any trans people. I have only been to one meeting - I went when I used to live in Dublin - so I don't know any other trans people at all.

Anyway, I thought it was worth a shot to write this to see if any one was interested in getting in touch.

    Gura maith agaibh,
    Cheers,

    Niamh.

Hi there Niamh, I'd be more than willing to talk to you, started on hormones recently myself, so I don't think were too far apart :p

All the money is in laser these days. :D

There's an Irish transgender forum that's quite active and growing.
It's probably a good place to start as there's meet ups every so often.

No problem. Oh it was just a joke- producing eye contacts as opposed to to laser eye therapy.:)
