Connecting flight Dublin to London / London to SF

    Hi Guys,

I'm travelling for work next week with BA to San Francisco.

This will be the first time I've ever had to make a connecting flight and for some reason I'm really anxious about it, so would love if some of you seasoned travelers could help me allay some anxiety...

I have 90 minutes in Heathrow between my Dublin-London / London - SF trip. According to the Heathrow website 90 minutes is the minimum time required to get from T1 - T5. Should I be ok?

I've heard that it's great I'm flying with BA the whole way as it means they will ensure luggage etc is all on the flight, I'm just wondering will they make a special effort for me to get on the flight? Would you have any advice to decrease the time it's going to take me getting from terminal to terminal?

I also want to know about emigration, if I am travelling Dublin to London with only 90 minutes before the Sf flight does that mean I will do emmigration in Sf? And therefore only have to be at my Dublin flight 90mins before? As opposed to two hours?

Any hints, tips, secret underground tunnels that would make me feel less hysterical about this whole thing would be very much appreciated!

Immigration (;)) will be done at SF. Unless you're not coming back ;)

As you're flying BA to BA, your bags will be sent through to SF from Dublin. When your flight arrives in Heathrow from Dublin, there will be buses available for connecting passengers. The bus from the plane will bring you the flight connections centre, where you will hop on one to Terminal 5. It's all pretty simple, and the busses to T5 frequent.

90 minutes is tight, but doable. Obviously don't dawdle. When you get to T5, check your gate number and give yourself time to get there. T5 has 3 sections (A, B and C). If your flight leaves from T5B or T5C you have a short people mover train ride to get you there. T5 has lots of BA staff around also who'll help you out if you get stuck.

Super. Thanks for the help although it may not matter now as my Dublin London flight is delayed about 20mins!

    Hi,
I don't mean to hijack this thread, But How is someone fixed for bringing duty free bought in Dublin through from T1 to T5 in heathrow.
I am doing a connecting flight later in the year with BA flying Dublin to Heathrow to Seoul.

Should/Can I buy duty free in Dublin and carry through to T5 or should/can it be done in Heathrow.
Also on the way back is it possible to bring duty free from T5 to T1 or can I buy it in Heathrow on way back to Dublin

Yes to both once they are in tamper proof bags. One caveat though, the airport where the duty free was bought must be from the approved list thats on heathrow's site. It includes EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, USA, Canada and a few others. Not sure if Seoul is on the list
