    Hi

Had the NCT yesterday and failed on the

    Steering Linkage (43) - Track Rod ends - Worn - Nearside/Front - FAIL/Refusal

Re Test - Repeat Side Slip Test

The tester in FontHill told me that i need to get this replaced and the tracking done before i get it retested. Also told me that i only need to do the one side.

Question is where is the best place to get this sorted - Can i get it done in the likes of Advance etc or is it a garage job (probably both can do it i knowbut which would be best)

I'm in Lucan but can go anywhere within reason? Also is it a big job/costly?

    Regards

Simple stuff and easy to price over the phone as its a very finite job, get ringing.

Parts price here micksgarage.ie, local motor factors might be cheaper.

If you do go to advance , which I wouldn't , don't let them tell you that you need both track rod ends, plus new tyres , shocks discs pads, springs, .........

Would a local tyre place be able to do it or a local car service place? One of each beside me at work?

The tester sadi all the rest was fine and just to get the track rod end done

Best to get it done in a place that does tracking because it will need to be tracked afterwards. If you pick up the part which will probably be in the order of €20 or less, you'll be looking at ball park €50 to get it changed and tracked.
