Golf Clubs & National Lottery Funding.

Could someone please clarify a question that I have. Can golf clubs apply and have any actually received funding from the Lotto. Over the past number of years I have yet to hear of any golf club that has successfully got funding. It always appears to be GAA/Soccer and such like sports. On looking further, I have found out that orchestras, gymnastics, sailing clubs, thatched cottages and many other worthy organisations have benefitted.

I would argue that at this current time, Golf and Boxing are most likely Ireland's best export in terms of world sporting achievements, and all Politicians are quick to applaud Padraig, Darren Rory, Graham and now Paul McGinley, when they reach the top.

Are these achievements rewarded to the GUI and ultimately the golf clubs themselves through Lottery Funding? And if not why not?
    Thanks.
