Few of us in work are going to do a spin to raise some money and are looking at about 150km as need to make it in a day - not sure if everyone would be up to anything further!

Any suggestions? Someone has already mentioned Waterford as it has no major climbs but I would't have a clue of the route.

    Cheers

Have a oeek through the explore option on Strava, allows you to filter by distance....give you some hints also on altitude all are capable of.

Dublin to Tramore is about 160km through Bray, Greystones, Wicklow, Arklow, Gorey, Enniscorthy, New ross and Waterford with about 1000m of climbing.

Waterford has some MEGA climbs. Seskin hill (granted it's not too long but steep as the price of petrol these days), Powers the pot (long and grinding) and the might Mahon falls (no elaboration necessary).

It's not off the ground that Kelly licked it you know!

If your intention is to avoid hills, then Dublin to Waterford is a very flat route along the 'old' N9. Dublin-Naas-Castledermot-Carlow-Thomastown-Waterford. http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2071938 160km with only about 1000m of climbing, perhaps half of what you might normally expect over that sort of distance, and nothing at all 'steep'. Plenty of watering-holes along the way too. :D

The Tipperary lot will be along shortly to put you right on two of the above..... :)even if Kelly was born and lives ? in Waterford :P

    Thanks all.

I'll check out Strava but any other suggestions would be welcome.

Doesn't even have to be the sunny south east!!

Would ye not be better off starting and finishing in the same spot?Say starting in Dublin and cycle to Mullingar and back, I'd say that's about 150km (open to correction there) and flat enough i'd imagine.

if you all head off down to waterford theres a lot of logistics to be thinking about.

On the flipside I reckon people would contribute more to your cause if you were going to do something like Dublin to waterford, as it sound more exciting that Dublin to Mullingar and back.
