...beating up buskers in Temple Bar.

As most of us have heard through the media or from simple anecdotal evidence, there is a crime epidemic in Dublin at the moment. Businesses and houses getting broken into. People getting mugged on the street. Cars being burgled and broken into. Everyday I seem to hear about another burglary or another mugging.

Meanwhile, look what our "police force" are getting up to down in the capital's "cultural quarter" of Temple Bar. Instead of nicely but firmly telling them to move on (what a proper police force would do) - our boys in blue turn into bully boys...proceeding to chase them and then give them a beating.

Utterly despicable behaviour of the Gardai.

Good at beating up buskers, bad at fighting actual crime. Fail.

Everyone knows the Gardai lost control of Dublin a long time ago. All you have to do is walk through the city during the day and you see open drug dealing.

Not again, we had this crap video just before Christmas.
My sympathy is with the Gardai on this one.
By the way have you alink to evidence of the alleged "crime epidemic in Dublin" because the available evidence says different.

    fail!

That was posted here a while back when it happened. The buskers wouldn't move so the Gardaí moved them.

Silly thread. 9/10 of these YouTube videos are out of context and misleading. If you are asked to move on, refuse or don't co-operate, or resist arrest - don't expect a cup of tea and a pat on the back.

Out of context video, one sided video.

Where's this crime epidemic you speak of?I live in West Dublin and work in the City Centre and I've never witnessed or experienced it.

Masssively reliable sources you;ve listed there.

Okay. so what are you NOT telling us? I don't see any busking going on? Sounds like an anti-guards agenda here, espeically from the guy doing the taping.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

    Play a different tune OP.

We discussed this months ago and came to the conclusion that everyone but the Guards were arseholes.

Didnt this happen about 3 months ago??

Buskers refuse to comply with lawful direction, resist arrest, attempt to flee to evade arrest caught and arrested whats the problem??

Gardai get given batons, spray and cuffs to use them not because they look pretty or because incidnets like this are pleasent to watch. There was 3 Gardai there against how many buskers and a somewhat hostile crowd.

Had the buskers co operated there wouldnt have been an incident.

Dang young people playing loud music !

Sing a different tune there moral crusaders. An argument between the gardai and a busker got out of hand. Anything to wring your hand at.

I read in some Youtube comments that the Gardai are hiring junkies to conduct executions on buskers. Alongside the death camps I think it's all going swimmingly.

Is that a serious question? You really think some nervous kid packing up their gear, going out and having the chutzpah to sing and play in public actually is internally going "come on pigs, have a go if you dare". Would you ever...

No of course not and i didn't say all buskers are violent or even discourteous. I simply asked if being a busker meant they didnt have the potential to be violent. The buskers on the video became quite aggresive when told to move on and the Gardai handeled it well. That was my original point

We'll disagree on the "handled it well" bit. My version of handling it well involves tapping your foot to the music as you walk past, but each to their own.

    Remember Robocop in Temple bar.
Took his badges off and beat the crap out of peaceful people with a baton.
    Fuggin animal that guy.

that's where our taxes go folks. paying these thugs.

And what happened to Robocop ?

    he's a big man now.

last seen licking the truncheon over spectators in Dalymount.

Oh one or two can. but it's actually an integral part of their act, so I don;t know if it counts or not.

The Gardai had recieved a number of noise complaints from local residents and thats why they asked to move along. Gardai unfortunately dont have the option of tapping their feet to the music whilst policing Dublin City Centre.

That guard was found not guilty in court of having committed any offence at that 'peaceful' march. As i said before Gardai have been given batons to use where appropiate. And the courts decided his level of force was appriopriate.
