Lads , I'm an ok bunker player, was good but gone a bit ropey.

The only thing I was uncertain about practicing today was weight distribution.

Lads , what weight do you put on left foot % wise (right player).

Does it change with shot distance ?

    Thanks.

Oh man! Green side bunkers im hitting fat and fairway bunkers fat fat fat!!!! It's a real weakness at the moment for me so to try and reduce the weakness I'm getting a lesson off a local pro on Saturday- hopefully sort it out for season ahead- if you can wait till then I'll tell all!

Fix the Internet is full of videos with golf lessons, don't be afraid to use google.
But fwiw I prefer an even weight distribution and neutral hand position with a square to slightly open stance and the ball position forward of middle.

Who needs Google when you have the lads here , 30 lads less than 8(joking).

Went there first, one lad said 80% front foo sounded very hight. I would be like you 50%.

I'd have weight slightly on my left foot 55%-45%. I guess as distribution, slightly open stance and ball position centralish to slightly forward

Depends on the shot also ??

Smooth compacted sand, short shot is 50/50: nip the ball off the surface.
    - long shot, ball is back in stance, weight 80/20 - I also use this for rough, sticky sand

i just had a 4 week clinic with our club pro .one week was bunker play .he set me up as follows to favour the weight , left side 60/40.ball played off left heel and try to keep uppper body quiet during your swing. the weight ratio and ball position has made a huge difference in my bunker play .maybe get a lesson to see what you are/are not doing and you 'll know for sure then.good luck

    Thanks lads , great stuff.

Don't need a lesson, Will practice a few weeks alone.

Just wanted to confirm it is worth shifting weight left. Amazing how problems in short game can drift in and poison other things. Thanks for that, Will try 60 % , 40 %. .

For me it depends on the slope and type of shot you're looking for.

Uphill more weight on my right side, particularly if you need to get it up over the lip quickly.
Downhill more weight on my left side.

I find that more weight on the right gives a higher, softer landing shot, maybe because my swing is steeper. I think weight on my left tends to produce a lower, spinnier shot because my swing is shallower.

When they go well I'm not fighting the slope and committed to the shot.

    Right hander by the way.

50/50 with a wide stance for me. Used to be terrified of bunkers buk a few minute lesson with a friend who is an excellent player sorted me out. (Done using practice green / bunker I may add!!)

Similar for me, I used be crap but a friend who is low just told me when in the greenside bunkers open the stance right up,weight a little forward, pretend the ball is an egg yolk and aim for the white of the egg, I always get out of the sand but not necessarily always close.
