    Hi there
I'm in the market for a Charolais bull for the suckler herd and have 3 choices whose fathers are from : CF61 Alex (mother from CF52), CF85 (mother from HWN) or SAI Saphir.
What are peoples opinions about these bulls and the calves they produce?
Did people have trouble calving out of CF61, I like him and his milk stats but dont want trouble calving.
SAI is the safest bet calving-wise but he seems short\butty is this true of his calves and are they muscley?
CF85 is big but his milk and calving difficulty stats are not great. did people find him a are calver.

So which of the bull produce nice/stylish/long weanlings?
    CF61 - CD 10.1 and Milk 6.1
    CF85 - CD 9.4 and Milk -5.7
    SAI - CD 6.3 and Milk 1.5

    Cheers

Dont know how relevant the sires calving difficulty is to his son. cf85 produced great stock here. Pick the two bulls you like and use the figures to make up your mind on which you prefer. Why the interest in milk?

Surely the stats of the sire is transfered to the son ... if not then it brings in to question the whole idea of breeding for different traits.
I'd like to have the option of replacements in time so would prefer to have milk in the back ground.
Yeah thats about the best way to make up my mind

    Cheers

You're right hugo, I read it a couple of times , its a good thread and with only positive things to say about CF85 and CF61. There very little reported about SAI and the AI man says that CF61 has been a disaster calving wise
Cheers lads yeah its good advice that
