How to avoid paying tax in 1 job?

    Sorry if this has been posted already but I can't find an answer!

    I work 2 jobs...in 1 i get 100euro every week, this does not vary.
    I want to allocate enough credits so i don't get taxed on it, how do I work it out???

    Main reason is that I don't want tax credits going unused by allocating them all to the other job.

    The €100 per week, is it before tax, or what you get into your hand?

    It is the Gross Wage before any tax or deductions that you earn in each job is what is important here.

    Starting a second job
    If you choose to take on a second job, your first employer will already have instructions from the tax office to give you all the tax credits to which you are entitled against your pay. Unless you advise your District Tax Office to issue new certificates, one to each employer, dividing the tax credits and standard rate cut-off point between the two jobs, your new employer (that is, in your second job) will operate your pay on an emergency tax basis.

    This will mean that you would get more tax credits than you are entitled to, resulting in an underpayment of tax, which will have to be paid at the end of the tax year. Contact the Revenue's Lo-call PAYE enquiry service (see link below) for contact details of your District Tax Office.


    How to apply

    If your employer does not have the application form 12A (Application for a Certificate of Tax Credits and Standard Rate Cut-Off Point) you can get one from the Lo-call PAYE enquiry service. Ask your employer which tax office your completed form should be sent to.

    You are better off doing this yourself rather than getting accounts in your job to do it, especially if you want to keep the pay and details of the second job private from the first.

    Thanks for your reply, I've read through that information previously. I have been working both these jobs for the past year or so so it's not a new employment & over the year managed to build up about 800euro tax that is owed back to me. I want to avoid that this year.

    I've already spoken to someone in revenue but they weren't very helpful.

    I have access to PAYE online & want to manually allocate credits myself.

    My main question is how do I calculate the amount of credits to allocate to cover the 100euro?

    €100 per week for 52 weeks gives an annual salary of €5200 gross. Tax @ 20% would be €1040.
    To avoid paying tax on it, allocate €1040 of your total tax credits and €5200 of your standard rate cut off point to the second job.
