    Hi folks

    Viva Manila

Was wondering has anyone seen this band play at a wedding or elsewhere? Looking to book them to play for a few hours after our wedding dinner. I've heard great things about Tropical Storm and Manila Strings and was just wondering are this particular act along the same lines? They look like great craic from the videos I've seen online.

    Thanks.

I seen them one night, theyre very good, but theyre not an all night act IMO so
Id suggest hiring them for before the meal or even during it but not afterwards. If you've got a regular irish wedding in a hotel then as soon as youre finished the band/DJ comes in and starts setting up and youve got 40-50 minutes while the band may even be sound checking. Lot of people go for walks/head to room/ maybe even everyone leaves the ballroom depending on what hotel it is so you may lose whatever effect you're looking for.

Pre-meal entertainment is always good as people hang around, always a 90 minute slot there for some entertainment if you wanted to hire either of those bands.

No we're not having the typical hotel wedding at all, we are having the reception in a country manor where we have the entire house to ourselves to do as wel please. Its a small wedding in numbers so we want a band for after that will play fun up tempo music but will still allow us to mingle individually with all our guests. We're not interested in having a last dance or having a dancefloor full of people. Last thing we want is to have to be shouting in people's ears while some wedding band drowns everything out with yet another version of Sweet Caroline either. A think a band like this fits the bill nicely, they'll interact with people, generate a good bit of fun and can move around the house without completely drowning everything out or dominating the entire thing.

In that case, go for it, they are good at what they do. All night post meal music can last 5-6 hours so contact hotel, see what time dinner ends and how long music can go on for, see if the trio are ok with however long you want them for....

what will you do when they do a mariachi version sweet caroline though? :P

Good to see your opinion there Clint - just booked them today for before the meal and half an hour during starters at our wedding. Youtube clips had eased the worry, but seeing a positive review here puts it to bed!!

Haha as long as they lay off the ABBA I'll be happy.:pac:

Nice to hear a positive review though cheers! They're away till March so its not possible to see them in a gig till then and its so hard to know if you're doing the right thing when booking acts.
