Now every public place in Ireland seems have Sky News.

In universities, airports, bars, hotels and banks Sky News seems to be the default channel.

Would you rather just have BBC News 24 - less annoying news flashes, less dramatic and less tainted by corporate interests?

On a serious note, I bet Kay Burley is wild in the sack though.

I'm in the UK so I tend to hit the BBC news 24 button on tv before Sky , if only to avoid the '' Live ...NOW...in your face '' Hollywood style news like Sky .

I hate the display of news channels in public places especially bars, pubs etc. I came here to have a break from all that sh1t ffs.
In fact I hate news channels full stop. Their sensationalist faux concerned 24 hour no substance propaganda bullsh1t.
But to answer your question sky news would defny be at the top of my hated news channel list.

    A medical marvel.
Sky news would love to get wind of this story.
Add it on "other channels" list....... BBC News 10803 H 22000 5/6

BBC NEWS every time for me.

SKY News is just too tabloid-ish and too sensationalist for my liking, although if there is a major world event (twin towers for example) then I wouldn't discount watching the Sky news coverage in addition to other news channels. BBC News being the best in my opinion.

Sky News when it launched in 1989 and through most of the 90s would have been my default go to news source, but since they basically became The Sun TV with red banners and NEWSFLASH everywhere, I rarely turn it on these days.

Probably BBC News then for a non-RTE slant on things/real news or CNN occasionally

Funny how people still refer to the BBC News Channel as "BBC News 24". Hasn't been called that in 5 years!! :)

It depends. When there is a big event happening e.g. London Riots, 9/11, 7/7, I really enjoy the coverage on Sky News but overall, it would be BBC News for me.

Isn't it strange that a foreign news channel is on loop in public areas in this country? Even more strange when you consider that we have our own broadcaster with a bigoted agenda with the 24hr news loop.

    Airport terminals - Sky news
Public service/Revenue offices - Sky news
    Hotels - BBC news

That sh it is fcuked up.

BBC news is dull and lifeless and so are their journalists. Like everything else the BBC does. I'm not a huge fan of Sky News but I much prefer it to the dusty old stiff BBC.

I'll read the Irish news online, but I generally stick with BBC 24 or CNN on tv.

    Euronews is underrated imo.

What an absolutely ridiculous comment. The BBC is the best broadcasting company in the world IMO. You thought their Olympics coverage was dull and lifeless? Do you think their radio output is dull and lifeless? Yeah right. BBC bashing for the sake of it. Appreciate that you have access to such fantastic output.

BBC NEWS 24 all the time. Sky News is the Red Top of the televised news channels.
