    Hi Folks,

Currently what is a reasonable cost for the above?
I've been quoted E450 by a main VW dealer and I'm wondering if that is reasonable? Last time round I was charged E475 and I'm going to seek other quotes locally but just thought I'd ask here as well.

    It's for a VW Transporter T4.

    Thanks for any details provided.

Seems reasonable enough for a Dealer quote.

Would be a lot cheaper getting it done by a Third party mechanic or garage instead though

Which engine is it and what year is the van?

    It's a '00, 2.4non turbo.
I'll be checking with a couple of indie mechanics and likely go with them unless they weren't competitive with the main dealer.

    Thanks for the replies!

These have 2 belts, one for the camshaft and one at the gearbox side of the engine that drives the injector pump. We charge €450 to do both belts plus the water pump so the dealer quote is pretty good, especially if it includes both belts.

Thanks for all the replies Folks!

Been quoted E375 by a mechanic I've used a few times in the past.

Just some feedback on this, final paid was €350 including oil change with a supplied filter.

Scanlon's Garage, Market Yard in Sligo town carried out the job.
