Recommend me a boiler

I'm currently looking at changing from Kero to Natural Gas and I've had an installer out to survey the house. He was recommending a 24KW Ideal boiler (3 bed semi) as he says they are about €500 cheaper than a Weismann. I was going to go with his recommendation but when I did a bit of searching online it seems that they may not be the most reliable. It seems that their standard line have a 2 year warranty but their more expensive line have a 5 year one.

Has anyone here got any experience of them or can you recommend a decent boiler that's not going to break the bank?

Glow worm flexicom range for me. 5 yr warranty like most other manufacturers. Is it a large 3 bed? Extension and/or attic conversion? The reason I ask is a 24kw sounds big for a standard 3bed semi.

What I like about the Ariston is the bells & whistles of the controllability of it. It is difficult to over size within reason a Band A gas boiler as they modulate. Saying that, the Ariston can be set to output a percentage of the maximum output, for example, 70% or 78% or 83%, etc. The pump is also modulating so even better circulation can be achieved especially in zoned systems or systems with TRV's.
It can also be set to Automatic mode so it will calculate the best parameters to run at to achieve maximum efficiency.

    Ooooh, I love my toys......

i don't know much about that side of fitting the boiler etc ( it seemed pretty straight forward looking at the plumber installing it )

I've had issues with the same model , the compact ga range , a few of them got stuck at the gas recognition stage , had to get baxi out , doesn't look too good to a customer when your fitting a boiler and the manufacturer has to call out .

I went to it. Told me that apart from the gas recognition issue that is apparently sorted. But gave me a booklet on how to reset to get it recognised. That they are getting very little problems with them.

One of the guys who fit one it needed a new gas valve.

A girl I know that had one fitted sed the plumber had to go back 3 times in a week as it stopped working

I though I had subbed to this thread...

Thanks for all the replies. I've been reading up and it seems like the quality of the install seems to be the most important thing. The installer is quoting for a flush and a magnaclean so I figure he knows what he's doing.

If anyone in North Dublin fancies quoting for the job, please feel free to PM me your contact details.
