Foxsat HDR Raydons Media Bundle with proxy?

I've installed it on my HDR and its working great.
I wonder if I used export http_proxy=http://server-ip:port/ (using a kvm configured with squid in the UK for example) over ssh, would I be able to access the iplayer etc on the Foxsat here in Ireland? Any other way to do it directly on the box?

I'm not keen on running cables to a computer running constantly. I have UPC and I dont think I can set the proxy on the Thompson router easily so this seems like a better solution. I have a US KVM for Hulu which works great on my computers but dont want to fork out for another one for the Humax if its not going to work unless I run cables to the room with the computers.
