Humax HDR Fox T2 died

It was working on Saorview splendidly, however symptoms started by not seeing hard disk, replaced HD not that, then couldn't see ethernet port. Came home one day and it had hung during a recording. Powered it up and down but it died. Suspect psu kaput. Will persue when I get time.

After some quick research, Bought a Panasonic DMR-HW120, as all my other kit is Panasonic.

Also realigned my DAT75 to horizontal, no mean feat, to pick up both Strabane and Mongorry Hill.

Can report unit works, has worked since before Christmas, no issues. Picks up British channels including T2 HD, can schedule and record intermixed with scheduled recordings on Saorview RTE+1 series link and no issues. No series link on other Saorview channels.

Remaining issue from Humax is that the Panasonic shows no detailed information when "I" button pressed. BBC I Player will not work as it detects IP address not UK.

    Otherwise, Happy camper here.

PS:One brilliant thing the Panasonic DMR-HW120 has is an error meter, proper *** x 10 -6 etc
brilliant in helping get the alignment of antenna right.

Mongorry hill Saorview channel 53 is 80 degrees from me, Strabane DVB channels 45,42,39 are 110 degrees from me. I pointed the dat 75 at Strabane the weakest, and a lesser uhf antenna at the strongest Mongorry and combined their outputs in a powered mast head combiner, and they wouldn't work, errors were crazy. I reverted to the dat 75 on it's own pointed between the two transmitters around 95 degrees and everything worked. To get rid of all errors on the British signal, I trimmed the dat75 to 100 degrees and all was well, Saorview still strong even though off beam. If precipitation is bad, I loose the T2 HD channels from Strabane on channel 39, I don't have direct line of sight and it's a miracle I get them at all. Happy with the way this project has turned out. DAT 75 is highly recommended if you are in a difficult reception area. Just be aware it is very big and you will need to stay it somehow if you're in a windy spot, I'm using UV resistant light rope.

You mean realigned to vertical pol.? Presume Mongorry Hill is Letterkenny?

You are correct Peter, I meant to say the Dat 75 was positioned with it's 3 booms in the horizontal plane and the elements vertically orientated. This required the installation of a horizontal pole on my aerial mast.

Dat 75's prefer to be mounted (easier) with it's 3 booms in the vertical plane elements horizontal, which is the way they would be pointing at a main transmitter, which was the way I had it prior to this, pointing to Truskmore in Sligo.

Strabane and Letterkenny(Mongorry Hill) are both classified as repeaters.

Roughly 1/3 of the Saorview relays are horizontal polarity (a few sites transmit H & V). Clermont Carn is the only VP main site.

All the NI relays are VP, but there are a few HP in other parts of the UK.
