Which is the best NTMA State Savings product following the recent reduction in interest rates? I was thinking of investing in National Instalment Savings since the rate still seems to be higher than the rest and there is no DIRT. The downside is that you get no return for the first year. Savings would be for 6 years…

Which is the best NTMA State Savings product following the recent reduction in interest rates? I was thinking of investing in National Instalment Savings since the rate still seems to be higher than the rest and there is no DIRT. The downside is that you get no return for the first year. Savings would be for 6 years maximum, with a percentage of the total sum invested being drawn down each year for living expenses.

Is there an equally safe alternative, a bank for example, with a better return?
