    Was there even any point in doing this "study"? To flip it around, I daresay the 10 faster white runners on this forum have more elastic calves compared to sedentary Kenyans.

    I agree with the premise. It really is all in the elasticity and flexibility of the muscles and tendons. I remember Seb Coe doing drills where he leapt up in the air from a standing position. Wow. The spring and height he generated.

    I did a test on this on Monday.

    1st test was squat and jump. The mat measured my air time.
    2nd test was squat, stop and jump. Again the mat measured the air time and converted it to height jumped.

    There was little difference between my times but they guy that was doing the test with me had 4-5cm increase when he didn't stop. Both of us scored the same for the 2nd test. This spring must constitue for a lot when it comes to my stride and I hope I can increase this and be hoping off the road as a result.

    No idea, but he will get me drills to do to increase it so hopefully it will impact my running positively in the long run.
