    Hi,

My partner works minding children for a family. She has regular proof of income, payslips, P60 etc, but I'm wondering the following:

    1) Is the fact that she does not work for an actual company going to be a problem when applying for a mortgage?

    2) Is she effectively considered as being self employed as she does not work for a company as such?

Any experiences in this regard would be great to hear.

No. As long as she can provide all the usual proof of income that you mention, she should be okay. Some professions can't incorporate companies, e.g. solicitors and barristers and their employees would be just employees of Joe Bloggs Barrister.
    2) Is she effectively considered as being self employed as she does not work for a company as such?

No - she'd be treated as an employee.
