Foresty grants and herd number

Hi, I'm looking for some advice regarding a herd number. I'm hoping to plant a few hectares of forest next year and I'd like to try and get the farmers premium rather than non farmer. As a bit of background, I have around 20 hectares. It's been in the family for generations and I now own it. Currently some of the land is leased for grazing to a neighbor. My father is registered for Reps 4 and it's coming to an end this year so I was hoping to plant about 3 hectares of oak and native broadleaf. He also has a herd number and a few cattle on the land. Can I have my name added and we use the same herd number or do I need to apply for a separate herd number? I know I could go down the road of him applying for the grants but I'd like to have more control into what's happening. It can be hard to get information out of him and he's getting a bit forgetful as he gets older. I also want to avoid any issues if he dies during the period of the premium payments. My mother died a few years back and it caused a lot of headaches regarding Reps at the time. Thanks for any advice.

Best thing you shold do is get your dads heard num transfered with all the entitlments to you. But id speak to a farm planner/teagasc advisor to sort it out as could have not done ours without our planner.

I have a meeting with a Teagasc adviser in February about the forest planting. Just trying to learn as much as I can before I met with him so I get the most out of it.
