game and wildlife management / game keepin

Cavan duck buster

I was looking at colleges to do game and wildlife management / game keeping but the only thing is that they are all over in England / Scotland and i'm trying to find something closer to home ie. up the north.

I was looking at sparshault in hamshure

They have their own 25m rifle range and clay ground, sika farm and lots of other goodies.

High land college look good as well only problem is that they are located at the very northan part of scotland so traviling home is a bit of a pain

So dose any body know of any colleges that doses these courses in the north/Ireland?

It is something that i deeply want to do as a career and last time i checked there is a lot of jobs going in scotland for deer management/ gamekeeping.

not sure how academically inclined you are but if you were one for the studying I'd do a course in one on the Irish universities on wildlife.

Here's a post-graduate degree in wildlife management to aim for. It's not game keeping but working in a wildlife field.....much better job prospects & pay.

Thanks J.R this was very help full, the wild life and conservation management in ucd, i dont think i saw it wright be i thought it sayed 550 points which for me is just too far out of reach, it hardly is 550???

Youd have to do one of the required degrees first

If you are still in school & intend sitting the Leaving Cert I would contact your Career Guidance Teacher and tell them the areas that interest you. They will find every course in the country revelant to your interests & ability.

i done some voluntary work for birdwatch ireland with a guy who's doing a Wildlife and Concervation course in Kerry! During his time off he does voluntary work in Bura with the gamekeeper's and other work associated with wildlife!!
He tells me it's a great course and might be what your looking for!!

Well tomaro i will be up in Bolybrack mountion with the gamekeeper John Carslake to get a feel of gamekeeping to make sure its for me before i send away my college application i would like to tank Sean Doars and Amin for making this possible for be to experance and should be a good day to explore the with john

Well today was a great experance. We started off buling a nitten, watched an area accross the mountion at an area ware foxes lyeout on the rocks, chequed the snare lines left out gravel for the grouce to feed on
It was a great experince to work along with John and i'm invited to come back anytime to help out so i'm deffinitly thinking of going down the line of gamekeeping
