I'm looking for 5/8" fiberglass rod. I've imported it from a US agriculture supply company before but it ends up being ruinously expensive with taxes and shipping.

Any idea what the dimensions are on the fiberglass sticks you see being hawked around every summer agri show?
Would they be any good to ya?

Maybe they come from China. Depends on the quantity you need, for industrial ammounts try here:

    http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/534450522/Pultrusion_durable_fiberglass_cattle_sticks.html

If it's a coulpe you're after, check out the Agri shows, or some of the marts like Carnaross, I've seen them on sale.

A man I know:rolleyes: has started to import product for a new line of business he's involved in. He's dealing in relatively small amounts of product but has found that shipping is a fraction of the price of air/couriers and is not that long of a delivery time even relatively esp when pick-up and delivery delays for the air freight are factored in. 500kgs for €500 from U.S. west coast to Waterford. Maybe this is all old hat to you if so sorry for wasting your time.

@Freedom: I imported a load of them from the states a few years back, there was only one shipping option (UPS) and they charged through the nose. With that and taxes the price went from $3 per 2m pole to €12 per 2m pole. And I had to order 45 of them to get that price!
