Strava average run intensity

Just wondering if any other Strava users have opinions on how they calculate the run intensity - it seems way off to me, always shows the run as being a much higher intensity than it actually was.

Example was today - did 10k @ around what I would consider my 'Steady' pace (5:00 - 5:10 per km). Strava calculated this as being a 9/10 intensity effort or 'Race' - based on a 45:00 10k time. Seems way off to me as I would have considered it a 6 or 7 intensity. It also seems at odds with the pace zones - how could a run with 58% of the time spent in Zone2 be considered a 9/10 intensity?

You spent 40% of that run in Strava zones 3 and 4 according to your pb.

Change your strava 10k pb time to 40 minutes and see if you like what it tells you then.
If you are still unhappy try 37 minutes :)
    It's only a tool..

thats what we in the software business call a 'workaround' :)

wonder what would happen if i change the 10k time to 50mins - 11/10 ..?

You need to run a faster 10k.
