Mid-week Paris

    Hi Folks,
I'm heading off to Paris near the end of April for 4 nights. I have no clue about Paris and have yet to book a hotel (flights are booked). So I'm really looking two things:

    1) Can anybody recommend any nice hotels for about £100 max a night for a couple? I'd prefer something quite modern but I understand that everything in Paris is quite small. I guess I'd prefer to stay off the touristy areas, but I understand that this might be quite difficult to do.

    2) When I am doing the touristy things. can anybody recommend any must-do things to do? Bear in mind that we are going mid-week. I'm not sure how much this is going to affect things.

I know these are quite general questions, but maybe somebody could help! :)

    Cheers!

Mama Shelter is a good option if you're looking for a modern hotel off the tourist track, very trendy place and you can definitely get rooms for under €100 a night if you book far enough in advance. There's a music venue and a decent pub right across the street too, although I'm not sure if they're that busy in midweek.

Wednesday is the best day to visit the Louvre, the crowds die down a lot in the late afternoon / evening. If you're going, don't queue at the main entrance - you're much better off going round the back via Porte des Lions.

A trip down the Seine on one of the bateaux mouches is always worthwhile too.
