'Other Channels' causes 'No satellite signal'

    Hi folks,

I have what I think must be an unusual problem.

I was given an unused Sky+ HD Box to replace my old Sky Box (Basic subscription). Initially in the hope that the recording facility might work (I don't have a Sky+ subscription) - it doesn't - it is disabled.

Even though I can't use the record facility I would still like to keep the more modern box as it has a more modern looking interface.

My problem is that when I go to set up extra channels on the 'Add Channels' I loose satellite signal totally. Pressing Backup does not sort out the problem all satellite reception is gone and the only way to get it back is to power off and restart.

I tried a full software upgrade by holding Backup while connecting power and although it did upgrade the situation is no different.

    Any suggestions welcome

    Dave

You can enable Sky+ by calling them, it's no extra charge. Do you have two feeds from the dish or just one? You need two for the HD box to work reliably, or else enable Single Feed mode.

I do have a second LNB connected although I haven't checked it out using another box. Where do I disable the 2nd LNB?

You need to do it in the hidden installer menu (Services, 0, 0, 1, Select). Go to Setup and turn on Single Feed Mode. The box will then reboot.

We have the sky+ box but we can't record a programme while watching something else. Apparently another cable needs to be fitted.

I'm trying to tune in ITV for a match tonight but I'm getting a "no signal" message when I try.

Should I do what you said Karsini?

If it's a HD box and you only have one cable from the dish, then yes you should. The SD Sky+ boxes don't have this setting.

Yeah it's a HD box. I'll try that so, thanks.

Single feed mode was already on...

I turned off single feed and our ITV and UTV channels are back in the other channels like they were in our old box. :D

I turned off Single Feed Mode and I was then able to set up the Extra Channels like normal. Thanks for the help. Sorry about the delay in getting back.
